Mildly gamey, savoury claret, with generous plummy flavour and soft texture. Merlot-rich, so good with beef. Rather like Getafix, Asterix' sagacious herbalist, the monks of St. Antoine had a miraculous potion comprising wine from the order's vineyard and aromatic plants. Geoffroy de Roquefeuil's vines are in the same hallowed ground (pebbly; classic Graves); in 1985 he renewed the monk's winemaking tradition, minus the herbs and extravagant therapeutic claims.
