Monty Waldin’s Red 2007 Whole Case Offer 12 bottles unmixed case

I picked up the telephone to the estate in the Roussillon and tentatively asked if the collection of Monty's wine had gone to plan. Much to my relief it had. I am not normally that concerned about the logistics of the wine trade but this time there was a waiting camera crew at the vineyard to see it loaded and, a few days later, an appointment with the sommeliers of the Langham Hotel and another camera crew back in London. This is a lot of fuss for a £7.99 bottle of red from the Roussillon but wine journalist Monty Waldin has spent an eventful year growing and making this biodynamic red and the TV cameras have followed his progress. This masterpiece of the small screen will be aired in September we are told, but we are going to offer you the opportunity to see what all the up-and-coming brouhaha is about with this offer of a whole 12-bottle case.

2007 Monty’s Red, Vin de Pays des Cotes Catalanes

Wine writer Monty Waldin rented 2.2 hectares of vines in the Roussillon from vigneron Eric Laguerre and spent a year nuturing and working the vines through to cropping and making the wine. All this was done following the biodynamic principals that Monty has always espoused. Mainly Carignan but also alongside this were plants of Grenache and Maccabeu and these were all harvested together gathering in a niggardly 23 hectos per hectare. A wine of true character.
