2005 Frontier, Guardian Peak
Historic Stellenbosch estate Ruste en Vrede, founded in 1694 (and home to some grandiose Dutch-style architecture), was the first in the Cape to focus on red wine production. The Engelbrecht family chose the name Guardian Peak (highest in the Stellenbosch range) to represent their range of forthright, early-drinking styles. 'Frontier', a blend of Cabernet, Syrah and Merlot delivers a satisfying array of ripe berry flavours, and complex notes of warm tar, leather and tobacco.
