In 2002, Henri and Daniel Brunier of historic Chateauneuf property Vieux-Télégraphe (a classic cobblestone-strewn estate on the heat-steeped Hill of Crau) thought they'd try bottling their mature-vine Grenache on its own. They were so taken by the result that they've repeated the exercise in subsequent vintages. This cheerily expresses the warm generosity of well-made Grenache: juicy, silky flavours of raspberries, sloes and damsons with hints of aromatic herbs.
