This wine is made for us by Bodega Muriel which is a relatively new cellar, founded in 1986 when Julian Murua took over his parents business in the town of Elciego in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. The majority of the vineyards lie close by the river Mayor as do the cellars. The maturation of the wines is in traditional Russian oak in which this wine spends six months before being bottled and kept for a further six months in the cellars .
